The Next System Project is an initiative of The Democracy Collaborative that was founded in order to address the systemic issues that the United States is facing now, and will continue to face, in the future. At a broad level, The Next System Project works to create systemic solutions for systemic problems, believing that issues like economic inequality, climate change, and racial injustice require strategically minded fixes. The Next System Project balances their work with researchers, theorists, and activists, with more of an on-the-ground approach that emphasizes promoting visions and pathways forward.
The Next System Project works in various sectors as a research and development lab for political-economic alternatives. The Next System Project targets areas and systems that need change and connects them with models and designs for a better way forward. By approaching issues systemically, The Next System Project believes that we can start a dialogue about what we want our next system(s) to be, and how we would go about building it.
