Stand.earth

Stand.earth is a grassroots organization based in the United States and Canada that advocates for environmental protection.

Stand.earth was founded in 2000 with the goal of stopping the health of communities and their environment from being undermined. They have used public education, protest, advocacy, negotiation, and non-violent action to protect the environment and fight against any governmental laws or corporate policies that threaten it.

Stand.earth has grown past its starting mission of only protecting forests, and has expanded its focus to various instances of environmental injustice, and even fighting some of the root causes of climate change.

Some of Stand.earth's most significant campaigns include: mail reduction, protecting North America's boreal forest, fighting the Alberta tar sands oil development project, modifying the U.S. paper industry, and exposing the Sustainable Forestry Initiative as a false greenwashing scheme.

To date, Stand.earth has stopped or delayed 21 dirty oil pipeline and train projects, protected 65 million acres of forests from logging, and helped shift $3 billion in corporate purchasing to more responsible sources.
