AirSeed Technologies was created in 2019 and developed a flying AirSeed drone that can drop a seed pod with enough speed towards the ground that it buries it, mimicking the manual planting of a seed. But, planting Seed Pods with the AirSeed drone is approximately twenty-five times faster and eighty percent more cost-effective than manual planting. The AirSeed drone can plant around 40,000 Seed Pods a day, reach hazardous or inaccessible areas, and GPS tag every pod that is planted.
With improved speed, cost efficiency, and technology, AirSeed technology is restoring biodiversity and reforesting areas in Australia and South Africa. They see reforestation as a weapon that we can wield against climate change and they are doing their part to increase the number of trees on the planet and improve our air quality.
